Thinking about books...
I don’t know why I keep thinking about what I’m going to read next year. I want to read as much as I can since I don’t seem to do that much anymore. I’ve already got some ideas as to which books I want to read too (partly because I have so many waiting to be read). Here’s the list I’ve got so far:
- The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
- Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass (I’m watching the Alice miniseries on Showcase, I’ve had the book for a long time and just haven’t read it)
- The Stand (the newest edition with the added content)
- The Dark Tower series – all 7 books…hopefully I will get to them this year.
I think that’s all. Those are the ones I really want to read anyways. I have way more books that I haven’t gotten to. I’ve got Memoirs of a Geisha somewhere, and a book called Princes of Ireland that I haven’t read. And I’m sure there’s a new hardcover Stephen King that’s going to come out in paperback so I’ll have to read that when it comes out.
Just felt like getting that out of my system for some reason. I still haven’t fixed up my site, though I do really want to! I’ve been using my photoblog a lot more lately. And I don’t know if I’ll get to Ever Changing before I work out what to do with my Gallery site. I really need to start taking more pictures and figure out what to do with it soon. I want to make a facebook page too. I’m hoping to start selling prints next year once I’ve got the rest of my life together. I’m hoping next year will be a new beginning of sorts.

Working on a Change
I wish I could say this was a new thing, but I’m changing up my site. Granted it fits the name, Ever Changing, well. I do believe this time I have a better chance of making something better of it. I was going to get rid of the blog and just have my photoblog at bcshutterbug.ca . But then I realized I’d like to have a blog to track certain things in my life. It’s more for me really I suppose, but then all blogs are right?
My biggest motivation to attempt to jumpstart Ever Changing is that I’m going to be walking the 30K Walk for the Cure in Vancouver next August. My friend did it this year on her own because her teammates didn’t raise enough money to do it. It seems silly to me that there’s a minimum to raise but I have a feeling that’s to keep it from getting out of control. And I think it’s a great cause. It was originally for Breast Cancer, but next years they’ve altered to include all women’s cancers. I’m already kind of excited about it. For one it’s a great cause to raise money for and for another it will be a great personal accomplishment to walk 30k in one day. Possibly 60k in two days if we both raise enough. I am very excited.
The jumpstart for my site is going to include a new layout, although I’m not sure if it’s going to be the one I’d made a few months ago that I do like. I’m a little too picky when I make layouts. I love the header, it’s the rest of the layout I’m being iffy about. But that’s all normal.
I also have no clue when it’s actually going to be up. I am going on a vacation next month to Europe! So I have a feeling that not much will get done before then. I have an issue too that I want to get my photography site back up and running at somepoint to. So hopefully I can find a way to make doing this site a relaxing fun thing because the photo site is not going to be… lol.
Anyways, no one is going to end up reading this anyways so I’ll just stop rambling :)

A Great Weekend
I have had an awesome weekend! I’m tired and sore because of part of it, but it was very worth it!
Saturday I went to a friend’s wedding as the photographer. I was so nervous, having never taken pictures for anyone before. It turned out to be nice and relaxed. It was only the bride, groom, their two kids, and their parents. I got some very good pictures I think. I need to go through them all and do some editing. I’m going to do up some black & whites and try out some other tricks I’ve found. I’m quite happy with most of it, except the pictures I did after the ceremony I think I should have taken more (I need some more practice with my camera). But they were both thankful and the few pictures I showed my friend she absolutely loved. So I think it has worked out well. And I was also told I could use the photos for anything, so they’ll make some good starter portfolio pictures.
Saturday night was a baby shower for one of the girls I work with. We had a great time! There was lots of good food and we did a babyfood tasting game. I didn’t win that one unfortunately lol. But then again the prize was bath stuff that I probably wouldn’t have used lol. She got a lot of little gifts, plus a rocking chair from all of us at work. My little gift was an offer to take pictures for her after she has her baby. It’s free (hopefully great) pictures for her, and practice for me. If there’s any good ones I’m hoping she won’t mind me using them for a portfolio.
Yesterday was the TC 10K, a charity run/walk. I walked, I’m not a runner lol. This is the third year I’ve done it. I didn’t get any training in at all because I was sick for so long and then just busy. I did go for a long walk last weekend, but of course there was stopping involved and it wasn’t rushed. But when I got to the start line I was excited to go again. Not many of us were trying to beat our times, we just wanted to make it lol. It was long and hard for a lot of it, but I made it! I didn’t beat last years time, but I was faster then my first time. It took me 1:50:27 to walk it. Not too bad considering I think. I was worried I was over 2 hours. But I’m happy with my time. Next year though I’m going to try and beat the 1:44:02 I got last year.
Then, after going home and having a delicious subway sub for lunch and a bit of a rest, my boyfriend and I went to see the Harlem Globetrotters. It was so much fun!! I loved it! Of course it’s the tricks everyone who’s seen them before knows. I had seen a show about them a few months ago, but never seen them live. I had a great time! They’re so funny. And the kids all looked like they were having fun too. There were basket balls everywhere!!
Last night I didn’t do much, mostly because of the soreness of my body after doing the walk. I did mess with my desktop widgets and now I have to fix that. I needed one that I could put messages up or alerts for certain days. The only one I’ve found is like a sticky note but it’s kind of big. I think I’m going to google widgets for KDE at some point today. But I have too many other things I need to do…

Goodbye Dog River...
It’s over. Corner Gas has ended it’s run. And I’m sad. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a sitcom more. It’s not very often I like every characters in a show, or that I can watch any rerun no matter how many times I’ve seen it before (the only other show I can do that with is The Simpsons). It was such a fun show!! Watching the half hour special where the cast and crew talked about working on the show brought a tear to my eye. The last episode itself wasn’t one of the best in my opinion, but then it was probably hard to film. They all looked kind of sad. But there will always be reruns!
The Canucks are kicking ass!!! I made it home in time for the second period of todays game and saw all the goals. Such a good game! The next one is going to be nasty I think. But up 3-0 in the series and Lu in net, I’m not too worried.
And I decided…back to pixelpost for my photoblog. I like it best and wordpress was pissing me off too much. I put up my first post, which was one for PhotoFriday: http://www.bcshutterbug.ca
I started a new book today. It’s called Child 44. I’m only about 9 pages in at the moment, but I’m already wanting to read more. It doesn’t have much to do with the synopsis on the back of the book yet. It’s two boys hunting a cat because they are starving and freezing in 1930’s USSR. It’s not often I’m caught so early. I hope it ends up being a great book. I’ve tried to start two other books in the last couple months (both very short books at that) and have failed miserably. I just couldn’t get into them. I’m going to fall far short of my goal of reading 20 new-to-me books this year I think. I do miss reading a lot, and yet I have books lying all over the place lol.
And on that note I think I’m going to go to bed and read a bit.

Canucks up 1-0 in the series!! SKings (ECHL) are up 3-0!
So it finally happened…I broken down and decided to try and figure out Wordpress (for my photoblog). I don’t like much so far… there’s a good chance I’m either going to go back to pixelpost or maybe use textpattern for it too. I like textpattern because I can basically embed it into any layout I like, and with just simple html like I’ve always done my sites. I found a site that helped with the basic layout of a wordpress theme, but I don’t like how it works really. Maybe it’s just me, I don’t know, but it seems like wordpress themes are just more confusing. I could just be stupid, or lazy, but in the end it’s because I prefer to make any kind of layout I want and not have to build it around my blog. The only issue I’ve had with textpattern is the little orange dash up at the top of the content…I just can’t figure out where it came from lol. And pixelpost I do kind of like, but I need some more practice with the layouts and I had too much spam. I don’t know… I thought wordpress might be better for what I wanted, but I’m starting to question that. I want a photoblog that is about the pictures, but also whatever I may be pondering about those photos. I have a gallery site to showcase my pictures, I wanted a place I could post my not quite so good pictures that I love anyways and to ramble about why I love them. (as you can see I’m awsome at rambling).
In other life news, I’ve found myself a new show! Hopefully it keeps being good lol. It’s called Harper’s Island. It’s about a wedding party and guests that go to a small island (where the people getting married and some of the guests grew up) for the wedding. The twist…there’s a killer on the loose! There’s only been one episode so far, the second one is in twenty minutes. So far two people are dead, both a little gruesomely. It’s just been a long time since I’ve seen a ‘horror’ show. And I kind of like some of the characters already. I really hope it doesn’t get stupid along the way. I’m just happy to have a show that I need to watch every week again lol. Seems like most of the shows I watch are just sitcoms and cartoons lol. Or shows like Bones that I only watch if I happen to be watching tv at the time. lol
I’m back into video games again too. I was totally addicted for a couple weeks to Mario Kart Wii. Playing online is too much fun!! I don’t like the wheel though, I always use the nunchuck controller. I think I may be getting close to beating Mario Galaxy but I haven’t played in since a few weeks ago. I love those mario games! I’ve been playing Super Mario 64 on my nintendo DS too…now that I’ve beaten every puzzle in Professor Layton and the Curious Village. I need a new DS game I think. I’ve lost my Pokemon Pearl which I’ve been dying to play (this is the second time this has happened). It usually keeps me from spending money on games because I love breeding and trading for the pokemon I need. It’s seriously addicting no matter how dumb or silly the games may sound.
Anyways, that’s enough for me I think. I should be going to do some dishes before Harper’s Island starts, but I’ll probably sit back and read my photo magazine and watch some more hockey. That’s what my post title is all about incase anyone is confused. The Canucks are my NHL team, the SKings or Salmon Kings are my local ECHL team.
